Welcome to Sanitation Hackathon Jakarta !

This December, Sanitation experts team up with ICT experts to find innovative solutions to challenges facing the sanitation sector.

What is a Hackathon?
A hack-a-thon event (also known as an apps challenge, hack day, hackfest, or codefest) is an intensive marathon competition of brainstorming and computer programming that draws together the talent and creativity of software developers and designers.

The Sanitation Hackathon:

The Sanitation Hackathon challenges programmers to develop innovative software solutions that address real-world problems in sanitation.

On December 1-2 2012, technologists will team up with sanitation experts in an intensive marathon to find innovative solutions to challenges the sanitation sector faces.

The event, organized by the World Bank’s Water and Sanitation Program, will take place simultaneously in several cities around the world.

Pre Event:

Two brainstorming events were held in Jakarta in October 2012. Many representatives of the sanitation sector in Indonesia, including government agencies and programs, donors, and NGOs as well as representatives from the ICT sector sat together to think about the biggest challenges the Indonesian sanitation sector faces — and which role IT solutions can play to overcome them.

We have finalized the problem statements and uploaded them on the website. Please visit /search?f[0]=author%3A974   for an overview of the Indonesian problem statements.

Hackathon Event:

1-2 December 2012

University of Indonesia will be the host for the event. Event will be held in the Faculty of Computer Science – University of Indonesia, Depok.
